New Construction Home in Blaine Gets K-Style Gutters

The Challenge

The architectural design of this Blaine home featured a complex roofline that required multiple miters (corner joints) across the front elevation. Because these corners were positioned directly over the main entryway, precision was our top priority. Aesthetically, the cuts had to be absolutely flawless to ensure high curb appeal for anyone walking up to the front door. Functionally, tight, perfectly sealed miters are critical to prevent leaks or dripping over the porch during heavy spring rainstorms or rapid winter snowmelts.

The Solution

To handle the roof’s water runoff while elevating the home’s look, we installed seamless white K-style gutters. The crisp white finish provided clean lines that beautifully complemented the home’s exterior siding and trim. K-style gutters are highly recommended for Minnesota homes because their shape holds a high volume of water, while the profile mimics the elegant look of crown molding.

One Important Detail

A common detail on new construction homes in our area is the use of an edge metal known as “sider’s edge.” Builders typically face-nail this metal trim directly to the fascia board. For a secure, proper gutter installation, our crew takes the time to carefully remove this trim before mounting the gutters, and then properly reinstalls it. While it requires an extra step, we never cut corners by just working around it. Removing and reinstalling the sider’s edge ensures the gutters sit completely flush against the fascia, allowing for the correct pitch and a far stronger anchor. It’s a little extra work, but it guarantees a clean, long-lasting result that protects the homeowner’s investment for years to come.
