Wind

Wind Damage

Significant wind can cause shingles to blow off the roof deck. Missing shingles can lead to leaks and other interior damage. Other wind damage may not be easy to see, especially if the adhesive seal that provides a water-shedding surface is broken. To get an inspection on the scope of the damage, give us a call. Sometimes people don’t even know they have wind damage and it can lead to water leaking into their home.

All manufacturers publish a wind warranty on their shingles, and it’s important to compare the wind coverage when making your shingle selection on a new roof. If the winds that caused the shingle damage were above the manufacturer’s wind coverage, you’ll need to file an insurance claim. If they weren’t, contact the shingle manufacturer to file a claim.

Missing shingles and thin horizontal lines where granules have been worn off about 1-2 inches beneath the shingle above; this could indicate that the shingle seal was broken and the shingle was flapping in the wind, rubbing against the shingle above it; to be effective against the elements, shingles must be sealed to each other as one, water-tight roof deck.

Debris

Fallen Debris Damage

During some storms tree branches or other falling debris can land on your roof. Some items are small and won’t cause an issue. Other items are so large that you will naturally be concerned about the damage. Use your best judgment when deciding to take action. You may need to have a professional roofing contractor inspect your roof for damage. Depending on the scope of the damage you may need to file an insurance claim. If the damage is isolated and minimal, then a repair will be the most cost-effective way to proceed.

Potential signs of debris damage:

  • Visual identification of debris on the roof deck.
  • Missing shingles.
  • Cracked shingles.
  • A large pile of granules at the end of your downspout; a small amount is normal, however, especially for new shingles.

They covered up my kitchen exhaust fan roof vent along with my bathroom fan exhaust roof vent. Luckily I climbed up on the roof and noticed it so they had to rip some shingles off back down to the vents to install them. They skipped installing half of the new stove jack flashing boots. Besides messing up on those few major things they were very friendly and very nice. Everything was eventually resolved.

I met several of the guys during the projects and EVERY ONE of them was kind and answered all of my questions with a smile. It was such a relief to know that I could trust this company to care for every detail. Absolutely recommend KB!!

Kingdom Builders was the only company that actually responded and gave us a quote to replace the roof and 3 skylights on our double wide manufactured home. They did an excellent job and answered all our questions. Great cleanup. After the crew left we only found one roofing nail on the ground. Will definately use again when we need new siding and windows.

I love this local roofer; very straight and honest. Always does things right, nothing shoddy here. Stand behind all their work and the price is very very fair. Do not go with the storm chasing roofers with free inspection offers from pickups from Texas; you will regret not using a local long time roofer that has a local phone number and will be around years from now.
