An Exterior Makeover in Cokato, MN
The Kingdom Builders loves helping homeowners improve the look and function of their homes. Recently, we completed a full exterior remodel in Cokato, MN, that brought new life to an older home. The property was transformed to match the standard of previous remodels our team has completed in the same neighborhood.
A Step-by-Step Transformation
Step 1: Roof Replacement
We began the project by starting with the roof. The homeowners chose Owens Corning Duration shingles in the Williamsburg Grey color. Owens Corning released this color option to roofing contractors recently, and it has become a top choice for homeowners who have earth tones in their siding.
Step 2: Enhanced Insulation & Ventilation
To improve the home’s energy efficiency, we added a layer of insulation to the outside of the home (between the wall and the siding). We also cut out the old soffit to increase ventilation, ensuring better airflow in the attic and reducing the risk of moisture buildup.
Step 3: New Siding
Next, we installed Alside Board & Batten vinyl siding in Rustic Timber color. This siding is designed to have a textured appearance and vertical lines. The texture and color combination create a bold, modern aesthetic while maintaining a natural tone that fits beautifully with the surrounding trees.
Step 4: Trim & Finishing Touches
To complete the look, we wrapped all windows, doors, and trim in aluminum, using a color that complements the Rustic Timber siding. Aluminum trim is designed to protect the wood elements of windows and doors with additional weather resistance (and it looks great from the street).
The Final Result
In our opinion, this exterior project turned out great. Improved insulation and ventilation will help keep the family warm in the winter and cool in the summer (and help with energy bills). Our team was excited to have another project under our belts and provide protection for the home from Minnesota’s cold winters!
