We recently worked on a roof replacement in White Bear Lake, MN. The project started as a standard roof replacement but ended up being more complicated when we ran into issues with the dormer flashing.

finished re-roof project at Lakeview Ave. White Bear Lake, MN 55110

Problem

As we tore off the old roof, we noticed the dormer areas hadn’t been properly flashed, which was causing leaks. The tricky part was – the house had metal siding. This made it harder to install new flashing without messing up the look of the home or needing to redo a bunch of the siding (which can get pricey).

Solution

To tackle the problem, we decided to cut the metal siding up about four inches around the dormers. That gave us room to put in new dormer flashing and step flashing while making sure everything was sealed up properly.

Then, we custom-bent some metal counter flashing with a built-in J-channel that matched the existing siding’s color. This little detail helped the new flashing blend in with the home’s exterior and helped prevent having to replace any siding

With the flashing issue solved, we installed Atlas Pinnacle Pristine shingles in the Pewter color. These durable shingles are designed to look nice and provide solid protection for the home.

Result

This started as a straightforward project and became more involved as we dug into everything. The homeowner now has a beautiful new roof and peace of mind. Our team was able to avoid having to replace any siding, which saved money for the homeowner.
