CASE STUDY: Organic Shingle Replacement in Coon Rapids

Problem

The roof of the home used 3-tab organic shingles. This type of shingle is lauded for being affordable and easy to install but these had reached the end of their life. 

A couple of signs our crew noticed: 

• Curling & Granule Loss – The roof deck was exposed to potential water damage due to the curling of the shingles and granule loss. 
• Brittle shingles – The shingles wanted to break during the removal process, making a more complicated tear-off process and a more difficult cleanup. 

Solution

The Kingdom Builders implemented a comprehensive solution to address the failing roof:

• Removal –  The organic shingles were removed very carefully, along with other debris an artifcacts on the roof.  The roof deck was also thoroughly cleaned. 
• Underlayment & flashing – Underlayment and new flashing were installed on the roof. This is designed to protect against water.
• Shingles – The homeowner selected GAF Timberline shingles for their new look. 

Result

Our crew successfully removed the old organic shingles and replaced them with brand-new GAF shingles. A full cleanup was completed, and the homeowner seemed very happy with the project!
